WOOLWORTHS CROWS NEST
On Cammeraygal land in Sydney's lower North Shore, a once bland retail façade on the Woolworths Crows Nest building has been transformed into a vibrant living wall. Bringing colour, texture, life and character to the Crows Nest streetscape.
Spanning 25 square metres, the green wall is a demonstrates how urban greening can elevate everyday retail environments. Where a bare building wall offered little to pedestrians or the neighbourhood, a lush vertical garden now softens the urban edge and draws the eye from the street below.
Installed using the Junglefy Wall system, the wall features a rich plant palette selected to thrive in the conditions of inner-suburban Sydney. Species including Macho Boston Fern, Philodendron Xanadu, Native Violet, Brazilian Walking Iris and Plectranthus create a layered composition of texture and tone, while Variegated Peperomia and Ocean Chlorophytum add variety and year-round visual interest.
Beyond its visual impact, the wall delivers tangible environmental benefits, creating a soft, planted surface that reduces heat reflection from the building, boosts local biodiversity, contributing to a more welcoming public realm. A quiet but powerful reminder that even modest urban interventions can meaningfully improve the places we live and shop.
