DUO
DUO is a premium residential and mixed-use development located in Sydney’s CBD on Gadigal Land. Designed as a vertical community, the precinct brings together living, hospitality and shared amenity spaces within a dense urban footprint.
At its centre is a concealed atrium garden, positioned eight storeys above street level. Sheltered from prevailing wind conditions and designed to maximise natural light, the space supports a layered tropical planting environment that thrives year-round within the building envelope.
Folia Network collaborated on the integration of biophilic systems across the development, embedding planted elements into both communal and transitional spaces to enhance comfort, wellbeing and environmental quality.
The atrium acts as a spatial and sensory anchor within the building, a vertical landscape that gives residents direct access to nature in the middle of the city. From this core, greenery extends into lobbies, circulation zones and lifestyle amenities including pool areas, rooftop terraces and dining spaces, creating continuity between interior and exterior environments.
Rather than treating landscape as a decorative layer, the design embeds planting into the fabric of the building from the outset. This approach supports improved liveability, moderates microclimate conditions and strengthens the relationship between residents and their surroundings.
