BOURKE STREET PUBLIC SCHOOL

In the inner-city suburb of Surry Hills, we helped Bourke Street Public School demonstrate its commitment to student wellbeing.
Popular with all ages, Sydney’s Surry Hills is home to a progressive community, with the historic Bourke Street Public School proudly standing across from the much-loved bike lane.
Recent school renovations saw a bold reimagining of the site, expanding upwards, while preserving the large outdoor playground. To further enhance the design, and amplify the benefits of biophilia in the playground, the P&C committee fundraised the design and installation of a Junglefy Green Wall.
Working directly with the School and P&C group, we proposed natural solutions that introduced lush greenery and tumbling foliage.
The result is a more pleasant, comfortable space to play, that gives kids the chance to learn about biodiversity, while actively contributing to reduced heat-absorption.
